A Complete Application Includes:
1. Graduate admissions application form. You can obtain a complete application by requesting more information or you can fill out an online form, the first of nine required components of the complete application. To gain access to the online form, applicants must create an account (pin number and password). If you wish to apply online, we strongly suggest that you print a copy of all information you submit, and mail the copy to AU/ NTL along with the eight other required application materials. 2. Statement of purpose describing how you believe our program will further your career and personal development. This should include your understanding of the field of Organization Development, the AU/NTL philosophy, and your approach to learning.
3. Two letters of recommendation speaking to your potential for success in this program. These letters can address your experience in leadership, OD consulting, or other types of consulting. One or both letters should address your potential in either organizational leadership or OD consulting. It is highly desirable that one recommendation come from an experienced OD scholar-practitioner.
4. Official transcripts of your undergraduate and graduate work (if any). We can review your application prior to submission of the official transcripts from your undergraduate university. However, the official transcripts must be received prior to official admission to the program. [Applicants must have a bachelor's degree with at least a "B" average in the last 60 semester hours. Exceptions may be made for highly qualified non-degree applicants with outstanding records of accomplishment. Such candidates are admitted provisionally and, after completing four courses with a grade point average of 3.0 (out of 4.0) or better, may be advanced to full standing. Please note: Credits for other university courses or NTL workshops cannot be applied to this degree program because of its unique nature, the sequence of courses, and the need to maintain the cohort group cohesion.]
5. Two brief samples of your written work (reports, memoranda, articles, or portions thereof).
6. A list of all personal growth workshops and other laboratory trainings attended, including professional training of a non-experiential nature. Please list the course title, dates, location, sponsoring organization, and instructor.
7. A complete resume or C.V. listing past employment experience, including responsibilities and skills obtained.
8. International students must submit documentation of the Test of English as a Foreign Language. A minimum score of 600 on the standard TOEFL, 250 on the Computer-Based TOEFL (CBT) is required.

10. Applicants must also complete an interview with the AU/NTL director and/or staff. AU/NTL will contact you to schedule this interview AFTER receipt of your application materials. Phone interviews are easily arranged for those living outside of the DC area.
11. Once enrolled in the AU/NTL program, students must attend a four-day Human Interaction Laboratory session held off campus. This introduction to Experiential Learning and the Learning Community, or equivalent T-group based experiential laboratory learning experience, serves as an introduction to AU/NTL’s experiential learning process and is used to acquaint student-participants with the core learning philosophy of the AU/NTL programs. The NTL Institute offers many public workshops. Applicants and current students can enroll in these NTL workshops at a considerably reduced fee. This requirement must be fulfilled before the student takes the “Use of Self” and “Group Theory and Facilitation” courses.
